T-Shirt GSM

GSM (grams per square meter). The thickness and quality of a t-shirt can be quickly judged by its gsm.

We do not recommend anything less than 150 gsm for custom t-shirts as they won't last long.

Recommended gsm for collar polo t-shirts
180 gsm, 200 gsm, 220 gsm, 240 gsm, 280 gsm

Any gsm more than 280 gsm for collar polo t-shirts will make the t-shirt very thick and uncomfortable to wear

Recommended gsm for round neck t-shirts
150 gsm, 160 gsm, 180 gsm, 200 gsm

Any gsm more than 200 gsm for round neck t-shirts will make the t-shirt very thick and uncomfortable to wear

Recommended gsm for sweatshirts and hoodies
300 gsm

Recommended gsm for sports jerseys
160 - 170 gsm

Making of the t-shirt

Spinning

Raw cotton is made into yarn through the process of spinning. Yarn is then made into bundles.

Yarn

Yarn is the bundle of threads used in the making of the fabric for the t-shirt.

Knitting

Knitting is the process that makes yarn into fabric. Yarn is fed into the knitting machines. Knitting machines have a lot of needles that closely knit the yarn into fabrics.

Circular knitting machines (single knit and double knit) are the most widely used knitting machines.

The best circular knitting machine is: Mayer & Cie

After knitting the fabric is passed out as rolls.

Dyeing

Dyeing is the process that colors the knitted fabric as per our requirement.

The best fabric dyeing machine is: Thies

Bio wash

This is an optional process for 100% cotton fabrics only

The dyed fabric is pre-washed for special specifications with a mixture of some acid and enzymes.

The bio wash process takes place at a very high temperature so that pilling is avoided.

The very small, minute, almost invisible thread protruding on the fabric is cut and break down through this process.

Bio wash makes the fabric very soft, fine, smooth and silky and gives the fabric a uniquely bright and glossy look.

Screen printing, digital printing, hybrid digital printing look brighter on bio wash fabric than on non-bio wash fabric.

Compacting

Compacting is the process to avoid shrinkage of the fabric in the future.

Designing

Fashion designers and design studios create the style of the t-shirt.

Print & embroidery designs

Print, embroidery designs are also done at the design studios.

Pattern making

The style of the t-shirt to be manufactured is drawn into a pattern on cardboard. This is done through computer-aided design and also manually.

Cutting

Cutting is the process to cut the rolls into the pattern of the t-shirt required.

For huge quantities cutting is made through cutting machines.

For small quantities cutting is made manually. As a result of highly skilled labor, manual cutting is on par with machine cutting.

Design imprint processes

Embroidery design punching

This is the process of designing the computerized design file to be fed into the embroidery machine for logo embroidery.

The process of designing the logo for the process of embroidery is called 'embroidery design punching'

Perfection, sharpness, precision, and accuracy in this design punching process are achieved through the combination of the latest computer-aided designs software and highly skilled human designers.

Embroidery

Embroidery is the process of applying thread in the form of a design on a piece of fabric through a needle.

It is like an art on a fabric done by a needle using thread.

From hand embroidery in 1990s embroidery has been outright updated with sharper precision embroidery machines manufactured in Japan. Now, we can even do a fifteen color logo in the latest embroidery machines.

The best embroidery machine is: Barudan

No other machine can match the sharp curves in the design as Barudan.

Screen making

Screen making is the process of making the screens for screen printing on t-shirts

In the earlier days, the design was first printed on paper using a laser printer or imagesetter, then made into a negative film and then to positive film.

Screens were made manually exposing the positive film or tracing film to sunlight or special tube lights

The latest technology enables to make screen directly from a computer.

Direct computer to screen making provides sharp designs without curves.

Screen printing

Screen printing is also known as rubber printing.

From table printing in 2000s screen printing has now evolved into computerized screen printing.

This enables sharper precision in printing, exact accuracy in color seating, the smooth and flat finish of printing on the fabric.

The best screen printing machine is: MHM

Digital direct to garment printing

Direct to garment digital printing also popularly known as DTG is the modern form of screen printing.

DTG machine is connected with the computer and prints on the fabric directly.

DTG is very good for multi-color prints. DTG also saves a lot of pre-process time resulting in fast shipping turnaround time.

Hybrid digital direct to garment printing

Hybrid direct to garment digital printing is the most advanced technology in multicolor printing.

The color output of Hybrid direct to garment digital printing is more accurate and brighter than Ordinary DTG.

Sublimation is the technology used for all-over print on 100% polyester dri-fit sports jerseys.

Multicolor print design is printed on stickers through multicolor offset printing.

Sticker is then pressed on the t-shirt through fusing technology.

Name and number personalization

Individual names and numbers can be printed on each t-shirt as per your requirement.

We can also do other personalization work according to your needs.

Stitching

After printing, embroidery and the design imprint process, the cut fabric is stitched and finished into t-shirts.

Collar, cuff, rib, hood, zipper, and neck labels are stitched to the t-shirt in this stage.

Checking

After stitching, the full t-shirt is checked for small specks of dirt, any pinholes, stains, and loose threads.

Minute mistakes are corrected and t-shirts with major mistakes are removed from the lot and sent to waste.

Ironing

After checking, t-Shirts are folded and hot ironed.

Packing

After ironing, the t-shirts are individually packed into polybags.

Then specified quantity is bundled in master polybags.

Example: 5 t-shirts individually packed in single polybags, 10 t-shirts packed in single polybags are in a master polybag.

The specified number of t-shirts, master polybags are packed in carton boxes or gunny bags as instructed by the buyer and sent for shipping.
